Farewell to Dr. Wieczerzak
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing away of a distinguished PIASA member - Dr Joseph Wieczerzak, who has died at the age of 91.
He is survived by his son Christopher Joseph Wieczerzak of Passaic NJ, and his daughter Barbra Margaret Reilly of Katonah, NY.
Dr. Wieczerzak passionately supported (and contributed works to) PIASA promoting Polish arts, sciences and culture generally. And, during 17 years as editor-in-chief of the Polish Review, he was instrumental in chronicling important chapters in our shared history, with a particular emphasis on Polish immigration to the United States during the 19th century.
Dr. Wieczerzak seamlessly gave of himself to enrich the lives of his family, the Polish American community and New York City. He enjoyed, and earned, a life well-lived. May he rest in peace, and may we all profit from his example.
