2021 PIASA R. Brenner and A. Cienciala Awards

The Polish Institute of Arts and Sciences of America (PIASA) is pleased to announce the 2021 recipients of its inaugural Rachel Feldhay Brenner and Anna M. Cienciala Awards: The Rachel Feldhay Brenner Award in Polish-Jewish Studies: Elyana Adler, Associate Professor of History and Jewish Studies, Pennsylvania State University, for her book Survival on the Margins: Polish Jewish Refugees in the Wartime Soviet Union (Harvard University Press, 2020) and Adam Teller, Professor of History and Judaic Studies, Brown University, for his book Rescue the Surviving Souls: The Great Jewish Refugee Crisis of the Seventeenth Century (Princeton University Press, 2020).

The Anna M. Cienciala Award for best edited book in Polish Studies: Silvia G. Dapia, Professor of Spanish and Latin American Literature at John Jay College of Criminal Justice and of the PhD Program in Latin American, Iberian, and Latino Cultures at the Graduate Center, City University of New York, for Gombrowicz in Transnational Context: Translation, Affect, and Politics, ed. Silvia G. Dapía (Routledge, 2019).
